What to Pack: A One-Night Weekend Getaway

This weekend, I'll be faced with the slightly daunting task of meeting more of my in-laws. My mother-in-law's side of the family was not able to fly over for our wedding in June, so we're taking a little trip to visit/meet/eat with her side of  my new family. Even though I know I'm walking into a warm reception, I can't help but be a little nervous and cross my fingers that everyone likes me.

The weather here has been a little unpredictable and bipolar this week, so I'm struggling to figure out what to pack for our one night stay down by the beach. Let's face it, you don't want to be seen as "that girl"... the one who has a massive suitcase for a one night stay. My solution? Layers, and lots of comfy things that I feel good in, inside and out. I'd never wear something too high maintenance, because then I'd just be fidgeting uncomfortably the entire way through dinner.
I picked up this little sweater at a random shop in Brighton beach (Brooklyn, not England, that is). This is the back of it - which is the main focus anyway. How cute is that lace and crochet detail? It's perfect for throwing over a dress if I get chilled by a sea breeze. The flats are vintage woven leather, and I love that they're comfortable for walking and go with just about everything in my wardrobe.

This vintage denim dress is one of my favorite go-to pieces that I picked up recently, and I can't wait to transition it into my fall wardrobe. If it's a little colder, this jersey maxi dress from H&M (L.Y.) is super flattering, comfy, and doesn't wrinkle in my bag.

Now let's just hope that the weather cooperates so that I can enjoy all that this weekend has to offer!
