More Magical Moments

I was really thrilled to wake up this morning to an email from my great friend and wedding photographer Naomi. Photos from my wedding reception last month have been finished, and I'm so excited to share a few more. Glancing through, I am reminded of how unbelievably fun that day was. Just, perfect. Family, friends, and unbridled fun. Memories to last a lifetime.

Making Memories

I'm not ready to say goodbye. I don't think I ever will be. I think the key here, for myself at least, is to keep reminding myself that this is temporary, that nothing is forever, that I'm not going to Mars; I can and will be back.

Spending this past weekend at a cabin on a lake in a remote part of northeastern Pennsylvania was one of the most memorable weekends I can think of. Despite coming down with some sort of foodborn illness from the Au Bon Pain in Port Authority (won't be eating there again anytime soon), it was a kind of magical weekend that just seemed to cooperate with the whole "goodbye" mentality. Family traveled in to spread well wishes, and the sky put on a show every night at sunset. And, on the last night, we did too - with some fireworks. I'm going to hold these memories close to keep me company, as I get a bit homesick in the months ahead.

PS- these are just a few iPhone photos; I have plenty more from my camera that I plan to add soon.

The Best Day: Part 1

So the big day arrived, complete with a hairstyle catastrophe and the need to double up on Spanx.
We're now "officially" church-married, and the sunny 85 degree weather this beautiful weekend in my Pennsylvania hometown made for the most memorable few days in the most beautiful place.
Here's a few of the first photos.... I'll try not to post TOO many :)

Too Short

I went home last weekend for my little brother's birthday. And when I say, "little," I mean, my seventeen-year-old brother. Who, though 8 years younger, towers over me and is going to graduate high school and enter the big, scary "real world" in just about a year's time. What a wake up call. I'm sure every parent deals with the realization that their kids are growing up, but for me, now I feel like it's very plain and obvious that I'm not a kid anymore, either. But for the moment's sake, let's all go stomp around in some mud and act like it, because life's too short not to.

Take Me Home

No matter where I end up, who I end up with, and what I end up doing there... I will always trace my roots back to the dirt roads in the heart of Pennsylvania. This past weekend I took Steve to meet my siblings & father, and to see a little bit of where I'm from. As he put it, "it's a different world."

There is so much beauty, so much peace and quiet, and so much fun to be had down the back roads that lead to the places I love so much - made even better by spending my time there with people that I love so much. As happy as I am to be back home after so much traveling, it is my favorite place to escape the nonstop hectic lifestyle in the city we currently call home.

The trees showed a hint of fall (besides the chill in the air) : the first changing leaves.

Even though he was on crutches from a foot injury, we went for a little stroll in the woods behind my family's home.

Great Escape

I have to admit, I'm a bit biased when it comes to nature. Growing up in rural Pennsylvania left a lasting, unshakable impression - and to this day, I think it's the prettiest place in the country, if not the world.
Well, to me, at least.
When I need a break from the city, the perfect stress release, or just want a quiet night of sleep....
This is the perfect setting for a campfire, a dirt road, and a night under the stars.
Not to mention, you'll probably get some amazing photos without really having to try.

I'm exhausted from my journey back to NYC tonight, but I can't wait to share more photos, memories, and the new additions to the store! Head over to www.shopdisowned.com to check out the first brand-spankin-new listings :)

Into the Wild

First batch of pics from this weekend. My friend Naomi and I ventured to Frances Slocum State Park in Pennsylvania for a weekend of hiking, tenting, and escaping the concrete jungles we both live in. More to come - but I'm exhausted and ready to unpack and get ready to return to the real world tomorrow...
How did you spend Memorial Day Weekend?

To Live and Die in Dixie

Ok, so it's not even southern, but Taylor and I went back to our hometown for Thanksgiving last weekend.
And, well... It's not Dixie, but it sure is country.

We had an AMAZING shoot of some new inventory (and I may have gone a little overboard on the velvet).
Many thanks to Brittani Kline, our incredible model and fellow Central PA native. Taylor's photos look amazing, and you can see all of it at www.shopdisowned.com.
