Market Day

If you've been a reader here for any significant amount of time, you'll know that I have a slight obsession with farmers' markets. A foodie love affair, if you will. There's something so charming and natural about buying our food straight from the source that takes the chore out of grocery shopping.

This weekend we headed to the local monthly farmers' market in Camberley town centre for a little look around. I wasn't really planning to buy anything, but who can resist the siren song of crab pâté?!
Figs are also in season, round and ripe and dripping with goodness. It's one of the most bountiful times of the year, and a visit to a farmers' market really makes that evident. I just got a calendar with a list of other local markets in the coming month, so I'm really excited to check them out in the weekends ahead!

What to Pack: A One-Night Weekend Getaway

This weekend, I'll be faced with the slightly daunting task of meeting more of my in-laws. My mother-in-law's side of the family was not able to fly over for our wedding in June, so we're taking a little trip to visit/meet/eat with her side of  my new family. Even though I know I'm walking into a warm reception, I can't help but be a little nervous and cross my fingers that everyone likes me.

The weather here has been a little unpredictable and bipolar this week, so I'm struggling to figure out what to pack for our one night stay down by the beach. Let's face it, you don't want to be seen as "that girl"... the one who has a massive suitcase for a one night stay. My solution? Layers, and lots of comfy things that I feel good in, inside and out. I'd never wear something too high maintenance, because then I'd just be fidgeting uncomfortably the entire way through dinner.
I picked up this little sweater at a random shop in Brighton beach (Brooklyn, not England, that is). This is the back of it - which is the main focus anyway. How cute is that lace and crochet detail? It's perfect for throwing over a dress if I get chilled by a sea breeze. The flats are vintage woven leather, and I love that they're comfortable for walking and go with just about everything in my wardrobe.

This vintage denim dress is one of my favorite go-to pieces that I picked up recently, and I can't wait to transition it into my fall wardrobe. If it's a little colder, this jersey maxi dress from H&M (L.Y.) is super flattering, comfy, and doesn't wrinkle in my bag.

Now let's just hope that the weather cooperates so that I can enjoy all that this weekend has to offer!

So Glad it's Plaid

So it's no surprise (to me, at least) that my seasonal obsession this year is PLAID. Buffalo check, tartan, classic or grunge, blue or red, green or yellow - I am grade A obsessed with plaid at the moment. I'm like a tiny Paul Bunyan, but instead of a blue ox, I have an endless supply of pumpkin spice lattes and a predisposition for climbing trees.

Also, it's apple cider season! Words cannot fully describe how much this thrills me.

A couple glimpses of some AMAZING new vintage skirts and dresses- plaid abundant! - that are new in my shop. Go check em' out!!

How gorgeous is this plaid? It's a 1970's maxi skirt that I'm so in love with. And it's for sale!

Tights are back in season! Be prepared to see oodles of them on my legs in the weeks/months to come <3

Rained Out

Why let rain stand in your way? It may have kept everyone else indoors today, but a cute umbrella and busting out my "new" vintage boots were the perfect excuse to skip out into the cool weather and do a little wandering. The slight chill in the late morning air was hinting towards autumn, so my excitement and desire to be outdoors was heightened ever more. August is here, which means that my favorite months are just around the corner. It's almost time to get the booties and long layers out of storage...

Light White Bright

It's a bit of an overcast day here in Atlantic City, but it's still so hot and humid. Right now I'm just lounging in bed, catching up on emails and planning the day ahead.

Mini getaways just make me feel so free!
