Whining: Street Style

I've chosen a topic to whine about this week: Street style in NYC.
I know that there are exceptions to every rule, but as an overall impression, I'm disappointed by what is happening on these streets. Supposedly the cultural center of the universe (if you ask any New Yorker), Manhattan should be a beacon of individual style and fashion forward-ness. Norm-core is ruining the universe, and here's why: and midwestern soccer mom who is within 40 miles of Kohl's can be a DIY/style blogger now, and it's totally bumming me out. The vintage market is oversaturated. The list goes on and on. How are we still going to be individuals?

I believe that the answer lies in gravitating away from the casual. Comparing street style shots on Pinterest from NYC streets, to those in Paris, there's a definitive lack of formality in our stateside attire. Maybe heading back into this vintage, even New Look-esque dressing is the only way to maintain some dignity in the normified style world. I'm not saying that full skirts need to become the daily uniform, simply suggesting that perhaps its time to retire the jeans and denim shirt look. Just saying.

Spots and Stripes

The weather was beautiful this weekend in Philadelphia. Cold, but not frigid, and nice and sunny and bright.
A heavy sweater took place of a coat, and I spent some time enjoying my favorite city with some of my favorite people.
